Business Objects Announces Management Changes

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 1998--Business Objects (NASDAQ:BOBJY - news), the world's leading provider of integrated enterprise decision support tools, today announced changes in its management team.

Dave Ellett, the company's chief operating officer (COO), will leave the company effective June 30, 1998, to pursue a position as president and chief executive officer of a Silicon Valley start-up company. Ellett joined Business Objects in early 1997 from Oracle Corp [Nasdaq:ORCL - news]. Bernard Liautaud, president and chief executive officer of Business Objects, will assume Ellett's direct operational duties, leading the field management team for Business Objects' Americas, European, and Asia-Pacific regions.

''This is a time of market strength and expanding business opportunities for Business Objects. Business Objects also announced organizational changes in its European and United States operations. In Europe, John Powell was promoted to senior vice president of the Atlantic Division, and Eric Faurisson was promoted to senior vice president of the Continental Division. Both are seasoned veterans with Business Objects. Powell joined the company in 1991 and Faurisson in 1992.

In the United States, Jon Temple was promoted to vice president of sales for the Americas. Temple joined Business Objects in 1992 and has been the director of sales for the United Kingdom, one of the most successful regions in the organization. Temple reports to Paul Doscher, general manager of the Americas.
