Bristol-Myers up ahead of talk to analysts society

NEW YORK, June 26 (Reuters) - Shares of Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. (BMY - news) rose Friday ahead of a presentation scheduled Monday to the New York Society of Securities Analysts.

Bristol-Myers rose 2-11/16 to 116-15/16, reaching a lifetime high.

Gruntal & Co drug analyst David Saks said he expected the company to deliver an ''upbeat'' presentation at the company's lunchtime appearance to the group on Monday.

''Bristol-Myers will use the occasion as an opportunity to discuss how good things are going at the company,'' Saks said, adding he was expecting to hear of favorable trends for its anti-cholesterol drug Pravachol and hypertension drug Avapro.

Other gainers in the drug group Friday included Eli Lilly and Co. (LLY - news), up 1-1/2 to 68-1/2; Pfizer Inc (PFE - news), rising 1-3/8 to 111-15/16; and Merck & Co. Inc. (MRK - news), edging up 13/16 to 131-7/16. American Home Products Corp (AHP - news) slipped 13/16 to 51-3/4.
