getgo234:

you state:

By definition Investor's relation department handles the relationship with investors. This relationship includes - but not limited to - answering investor's concerns and questions. If the entire company works and performs in the same manner as LSI's Investor Relation department has performed then we (the Investors) are all in big trouble! But I would like to think that LSI's investor relation department is a totally and completely separate business entity and has absolutely nothing to do what so ever with the company itself!!!!!!!!

Getgo,

You hit the nail on the head...No news is bad news in this industry and vagueries are the kiss of death. Onging communications to the broad investment community are therefore required in order to maximize your multiple and minimize your variability (this doesn't imply variability can be eliminated but it can be reduced). This means sometimes being proactive and sometimes being reactive.

For example, when INTC was tanking due to the pre-announcement rumor did they just sit there and say "we don't comment on rumors"? No they took action and it made a difference

When the rumor about the xeon bug hit the street intc originally said we can't comment because the product isn't even introduced yet (bugs and delays are common in this situation) but when the stock got socked the next day, they quickly reversed field and provided information on the situation and the stock subsequently recovered even though the news wasn't 100% positive (i.e. they learned from their mistake and then did the right thing to support the stock).

Until LSI realizes that consistent, broadbased, open and honest communication is a pre-requisite for well respected companies, It will not go up on expectations alone and it will be undervalued relative to its potential. It will take real results to sustain any price movement and that is about the lowest grade any PR or IR group can receive. It is like being forced to pay cash because your credit is no good or something, not a good situation.
