DJ,
I am very bearish on the semiconductor industry, especially the memory segment, but I am also very much a value investor and couldn't resist buying a few thousand shares this morning at 2 5/16. Given the value of the JVs and the solid balance sheet, ALSC won't be disappearing any time soon. The selloff this morning looked like a big holder blowing out of a position regardless of price. This kind of action almost always is followed by a pretty good bounce when the selling stops. The share buyback announcement should add a bit of momentum to the move up.

I have been following ALSC for a while so I knew that it's hard to find many signs of any near-term hope, but skimming the 10K really drove the point home. Making previous generation DRAM on .35 and .4 micron process is a sure fire big loser with no quick exit possible. Add in dumping tariffs on SRAM and huge competition in graphic chips and the mystery of why management is bailing out clears right up.

There is clearly more than $3 in value here, but unless they have a plan to cash out soon, it's going to be rapidly dwindling with each big quarterly loss. Short of a miracle...like MU buying them with stock...I don't see much long term promise here.

Would appreciate any education you long term bulls could provide to show me what I'm missing here.

Regards, Dave
