Steve - Re: "Well 4.5 Million chips a quarter is pretty decent."

It sure is decent!

Too bad AMD has yet come close!

In fact, they haven't yet shipped 4.5 million K6's since they introduced the CPU back in April of 1997 (neglecting the current quarter).

AMD shipped 350,000 in Q2 97
AMD shipped 1,000,000 in Q3 97
AMD shipped 1,500,000 in Q4 97
AMD shipped 1,500,000 in Q198

That comes to 4,350,000 IN 4 quarters!

Paul

Steve - Re: " I have no problems with Intel's product.. just don't think it's a good investment right now and I'm saying why.. "

Think again.

You just stated that you recently purchased TWO IBM Workstations with DUAL Pentium II 400 MHz CPUs. (Score 4 BIG ONES for Intel!)

How many others in the world have similar needs? How many software writers, WEB page programmers, Video Special effects designers, circuit designers, PC board designers, publishing/layout designers, shampoo bottle designers, security analysts, etc., are out there among th3 6 billion people of the world?

They are all in the same boat you are in - and Intel floats that boat.
