Opticom, Inc. Integrates High-Level Functionality into Cabletron's SPECTRUM Enterprise Network Management System
New Company Brings the Power of Clear, Concise Network and Enterprise Management to Senior Executives
MANCHESTER, N.H., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Opticom, Inc. a new company formed to provide revolutionary software tools for improving the efficiency and utility of network and enterprise management for strategic business planning, has begun operations from its headquarters in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Founded by Edward T. Flannery in July 1997, Opticom initially provided consulting for SPECTRUM Enterprise Network Management users. Flannery soon recognized a market existed for enhancing the way executives analyze their network management data. ''We formed Opticom to bring a completely different approach to enterprise and network management,'' Flannery said. Opticom's core product, the Executive Information System (EIS), is built upon existing platforms and integrates into a customer's existing NMS, extracting salient information for executive-level decision making.

Flannery was joined in August by Roger Dev, the original SPECTRUM software developer, to lend his expertise to the company and begin work on EIS, Opticom's first software solution.

According to Flannery, ''When Roger and I talked about SPECTRUM users' experiences with the product we realized there was a market for a high-level executive reporting functionality.'' Roger and Ed agreed that the first product should allow SPECTRUM users to leverage their investment and gain quicker insight into how well their networks were serving their business needs.

Dev designed the product so that clients could begin to use EIS right out of the box to help them manage their business. It has the unique ability to provide executives with historical analysis from archived data of a customer's network within hours of deployment. According to Dev, ''One of the great features of our approach is that EIS offers immediate benefits to the IT executive and provides him/her with the ability to make quick business decisions.'' As the product had instantly proved its worth, Flannery and Dev were joined by former Cabletron sales director Larry Benson to help market and sell the solution.

Opticom's Executive Information System (EIS) is the foundation for a suite of Enterprise Management Reporting tools tightly integrated with Cabletron Systems' SPECTRUM Enterprise Manager, and capable of retrieving information from other data sources as well. This suite of products delivers a robust set of reports tailored to the needs of the IT executive and his or her customers. EIS automates the reporting process, eliminating the need to manually run reports or manage archive data and provides clients with the information needed to meet management objectives.

Headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire, Opticom, Inc. employs the most highly skilled and professional enterprise network management architects and engineers in the industry and offers a wide array of products and services including enterprise and network management consulting, design, development, integration, implementation and software products.
