A research firm tonight on CNNfn said PC sales were lousy... CPQ being the worst of the lot. Low single digit growth for May- June period, they will release their numbers Monday. HP was the best of the lot.

The WSJ reporter interview on Charlie Rose said there's a lack of enthusiasm for WIN98 within MSFT, as its the dead end of the Dos journey and little better than Win95.

As to sales in the stores, there are always first to buy and experiment.. a friend of mine has to as he's in the keynote speaker business. He went to Staples yesterday and called me saying he bought Win98... A. business write off... B. for the bundled free Dragon Systems voice package, Live Picture, and virus software ALL given FREE to make the Windows 98 sale happen.

Its not Win98 that's selling but the periferals... the release curve will fall rapidly in my opinion and within a year we'll be having to buy NT for the rest of us to use with 450mhz+ PentIIs. Save your money unless you want some speech to text or a some other coupon.

Mr. Warren Gates,

<< Imagine if the courts order Microsoft to remove Explorer from Windows98 with millions already having been sold by that time.>>

The suit is not about Windows 98. It's about combining Windows 95 and IE.

Thank You

JK
