Yes, I neglected to mention the Cyanide part because I wanted to focus on the size of the deposit and location instead. Too bad Cameco didn't buy (oops, er,...I mean "hire") a few of the local police officers to monitor the speed limit, for I am told supporting the local "finest" is VERY important when doing business in that part of the world. If they present an offer of some sort to "help", you definitely DO NOT turn it down.

On the Cyanide issue, it is understandable that the locals would be quite upset, but environmental tests appear to be coming up clean for the most part so it must be difficult to separate fact from fiction at this stage of the game. I expect the poverty and corruption do not make this very easy, and no doubt the locals are after compensation from Cameco on this. Some may just be "P'd" off (and rightfully so) that their enviroment (and a beautiful one at that) has been damaged by a foreign company who the locals think has no respect for them....others may be upset with the death of the young lady (that some believe was caused by the cyanide).

I think there are some important lessons to be learned from this accident for ANY mining companies, operating ANYWHERE on this fine planet. One little slip like this can really lead to a lot of problems for all concerned.

...And by the way Mike, that was an EXCELLENT post on the Royal Oak thread ...everybody here should read it because of the possible implications for Toodoggone:
