You mean this press release? Yup, you are right. There is definitely something fishy here. A fourth round investment in Oct, and then another 4th round investment? Hmmm? Where did I find this? Oh, I just searched the mobilecomputing site for Wildfire. This is all that came up. I think there is a short trying desperately to tank the stock.

Wildfire Voice Assistant to Integrate with Microsoft Outlook
10/24/97 WALTHAM, MA - Wildfire Communications plans to use a strategic investment by Microsoft [NASDAQ:MSFT], supplied as part of newly announced fourth-round venture capital financing, to integrate its innovative voice assistant with Microsoft's Outlook, Newsbytes has learned.

Microsoft and Intel are the lead investors in Wildfire's latest round of venture capital financing, said Wildfire's Leslie Anderson, in an interview with Newsbytes. Other parties include previous investors Matrix Partners and Greylock Management, she added. All told, the financing package totals $12.5 million.

Microsoft is interested in Wildfire as a means of "extending its influence beyond the desktop," Anderson maintained.

Wildfire and Microsoft plan to work together to integrate and synchronize Wildfire's built-in relational database with the larger database in Microsoft's Outlook contact manager and scheduler, she continued.

Wildfire's database stores up to six phone numbers for each of 150 contacts, Newsbytes was told.

Integration between Wildfire and Outlook will appear in Enterprise Wildfire, a product set to ship in the first half of 1998, she said.

Designed to run over corporate LANs (local area networks), Enterprise Wildfire will also feature integration with Symantec's ACT contact manager, according to Anderson.

"Intel is interested in anything that is processor-intensive," Anderson added, noting that Wildfire provides capabilities in software that replace features previously available through hardware board sets only. "And our software runs on Intel processors."

As previously reported in Newsbytes, Wildfire provides a friendly "human interface" for telephony functions such as voice messaging, call routing, and dialing.

Demos of Wildfire are available by calling 1-800-WILDFIRE. Additional information about Wildfire can be obtained on the Web at wildfire.com .

That's the one. Thank you for posting it.
I would have, but I'm using WebTV in a
hotel room. No cut and paste on this
remote :^)

The more I think about the shareholder
meeting the more sure I am that General
Magic is very well run and setting itself
up to really take off. It might take
a little while but not too too long.
They are building the foundation and
the tracks into the future.

Markman said their target market for Portico
is 5 million people who they believe would
benefit from the service. If they can
capture a good part of that they will have
pretty good revenues :^).

He also suggested that the consumer market
might be about another 5 million and the
enterprise market was a little more than
that.

Kurt, If you'll recall Wildfire's claim to all personal assistant technologies. Remember their threat to sue GMGC if they proceeded to roll out Serengeti. Wildfire tried to steal GMGCs thunder then, but failed. I'm sure they will try again - after all it business! You and I know it's all sour grapes! I put my trust in Markman and the dedicated people at GMGC.
Cheers Alex

How clever of you shortlong! I take it you are long then on GMGC.
What difference does it make to you whether I'm long or short.
We all have a the inalienable right to post our oppinions.
My tactic is to "play" stocks up and down; that's exactly what
I'm doing with GMGC. Starting tomarrow intraday plays will be awesome
with this pup.

For sure, it will go up immediately, then profit taking and down, then up, etc. to mostly likely close up.
So I'll play it short then long then short.
My way of making over 100% a year in this manic market.

Cheers,

Michael

Kurt : RavenMcCloud/MICHAEL DIBENEDETTO knows that if he posts something like this on the YAHOO board it would be buried in about an hour, with so many posts over there. He is just hoping that one of the many readers of SI from the YAHOO board will pick up on it and blow it up over there. He is a daytrader, short and long. I don't know if condescending fits here, but he talks out of both sides of his mouth. I'm not trying to start trouble here, just making you aware.
