Good read, but there is one more thing that Katz missed in his essay, (Jon Katz on Media US-centrism on the Net) that inherent American tendency to reach out and embrace diversity. The net, even more so than McDonalds and Coca Cola before it will break down the barriers of communications between the diverse elements of the world and bequeath to it a groundwork for common communication, eventual understanding, and goodwill amongst all the peoples of the world. And it seems good and proper that this should have arisen in the technological development of this mainly benevolent and homogenized last superpower of the world. Embrace the future.
