Dear Stitch, Zeev & all - re: bamboo curtain. Hope springs eternal <G> I certainly hope the advent of technologies will bring all people closer to the ideal world of peace and harmony. However, while 400K is a lot from 0, it is merely a drop in the bucket in light of the size of the general population. More important, the problem is that the net is merely a carrier. So long as the regime has the apparatus to control the pathos of the nation, much work has to be done. I mean, there are many smart people throughout histories who fall for the romanticizing of tribalism. In the name of nationalism, atrocities are committed. One may argue it can only happen to some 3rd world countries, but I submit to you the counterpoint of the Nazi movement. Even sublime thinkers like Heidegger fell under its spell for a short time. Of course, to give a fair representation, I am hopeful that communication and education, with the advent of living conditions, will give the impetus for betterment for all. Look at the Taiwan internal situation, there was a time that KMT dominated over native taiwanese. Now, her President is a native taiwanese!

best, Bosco
