Mo,

What the MAx-Pain analysis says is that based on yesterday's NOVL July'98 open interest... if NOVL closes at $10 on the third Friday in July, the maximum number of open interest contracts will expire worthless. Max-Pain looks at the price of NOVL stock, not an options strategy. There are no probabilities stated, only a tracking history that is posted for each stock in the study.

Please read the illustrated example of the Max-Pain analysis, it states that breaking news, or events that could cause momentum (both upside and downside), can swamp out the Max-Pain effect.

Ben A.

PS This is a study of the Max-Pain effect, not investment advice.
