Here's what I'm thinking: HUMAN NATURE! OPEC pumped too much without properly assessing the ASIAN crisis affect on oil. Then they acted too late, after everything plunged to oblivian. Now they perk up and say "Huh? What's happening? Nobody's coming to my garage sale!" They cut back, but too little, too late.

The way I see it, inertia takes time to slow down, then it must be stopped, then it slowly gathers steam, then it chugs uphill and is just about as hard to stop.

I think OPEC will slow the degradation down and we may see a trendy mild upturn in the not too distant future. But somehow gut feel tells me we're close to the bottom but not quite there yet.

Any feedback?
