Gary & Eric,

I'm guessing there will be something on the annual meeting proxy for additional shares. This will probably be sometime in late July or early August, so it is not inconceivable that CSCO could announce a split in conjunction with fourth quarter earnings in August. This is all just a guess, but I have no doubt they'll ask for additional shares sooner rather than later.

To Ibexx and Mindmeld:

I also owned CSCO shares through the networking bear market of 1996-1997 (my average price is about $39). In fact, they're the only networker I still own. My only regret is not having bought more. Feels pretty good, huh? This company is going to be a leader for a very long time.

And one last thought -- I think TLAB would be a great acquisition. I'm long LU and NT too, and I think a TLAB purchase would put CSCO on equal footing with them pretty fast. Someone at UBS pointed out recently that the market cap ratio would be roughly equal to the STRM deal. If not TLAB, then who? AFCI? They need something if they're going to seriously go after level one (just my opinion).

Good luck to all.

Paul

We are on the same sheet of music but I think another split will occur this year. Too many price targets of $105-$125 floating around for '98.

Doesn't Csco announce splits when they hit the high 80s?
The last couple of times that seem to be the split point... Their next quarterly statement should have a stock split.
