I do believe that Brazil is not playing as good as they should, but perhaps they might be saving their energy...

George...No one should be embarrassed about how Brasil is
playing...

On wet turf they are doing "only" what it takes to beat Chile.
They have properly estimated their opponent. Should they
continue to drive in "second gear" in the next round
(remember 1982 vs Italy) then they will have a problem.

I don't believe that will be the case.

Chile has not won an away WC game in almost 50 years!
zzzzz.......

You're right: Brazil are not playing well. I agree they have "flashes of brilliance," but that will not win them the Cup. They are not playing as a team. Their defense is almost unbelievably tentative and fearful of a Chilean team that has only managed one shot on goal in 55 minutes. Ronaldo has been a non-factor, as he has been throughout the tournament so far. I don't agree it's because he is being double and triple-teamed - teams used the same tactics against Maradona, and yet Marodona still shone in each game in which he played. I think he was a greater talent than Pele and Cruyff. He was just amazing.

That handball of Maradona's in '86 may come back to haunt Argentina as they face England Tuesday. You know the English have not forgotten, have been waiting years for sweet payback. I hope they win, because England are a lot easier team for Holland to beat than the Argentines. The English have been playing well, but I believe it is a case of playing way above their heads - it's not gonna last very much longer. Just one more game, though, I hope. The Dutch have a score to settle with England, as well: their 4-1 group loss in Euro '96, as good a reason as any to believe that Holland will go out playing very hard if they meet England in the quarters. I would expect 4-1.
