JDS, >Where's the buzz about CLIK!?< I don't count on
the ability of "buzz" to influence stock price, so I'm not
disturbed by its absence. It is disappointing that so far no
camera maker has announced a camera with Click! built in.

To transfer pictures takes just too many steps: from flash to
Click!, from Click! to your computer (after you have installed
the docking station). Compare that to the only camera with a
built-in disk drive: the Sony Mavica uses standard 1.44 MB
floppies. Take the disk out of the Mavica and insert it in
your computer's drive. Of course the Mavica is overpriced
at $600+ and picture quality has been reported to be poor.

Ideally, I'd like to see a ZIP/Click! combo in every computer
and cameras with Click! built in.

Gottfried
PS: More on "buzz": there has been much negative buzz about
Windows 98 (non-event, just a bug fix etc), but the product
sold 250,000 copies on the first day and is expected to hit
the 500,000 mark over the weekend. That's all that counts.

>>Does anyone else find it odd, perplexing, frustrating that there doesn't seem to be any buzz or excitement out there relating to the coming of CLIK!?<<

I don't find it odd at all. Remember, I saw the thing firsthand at PC Expo, and there was a noticeable lack of "gotta-have-it" even from the Iomega faithful attending the booth.

Plus, if you scan the photography newsgroups, particularly <rec.photo.digital>, you will see a VERY noticeable lack of excitement over Vapor! Every time the subject is brought up, it has been shot down not by Iomega Bears, but by digital photograph nuts. It seems the real excitement there is over Smartmedia Cards.

Please feel free to read this newsgroup. It should serve as a warning not to get your hopes up about Vapor!
