I already mentioned that I covered these for losses. ATHM and all the internet stocks have decoupled so far from reality that they've simply become an absurd gamble long or short. I thought Yahoo wasn't worth a billion but now its valued at over seven. If people are willing to pay that now, then why not 9 next week or 10 or 20? The other problem is that unlike the Y2K hoax, the internet business is real and growing very rapidly- so it may be quite some time before standard valuation models apply. With all this volatility, I'm sure a stock like AMZN will trade below its current price, but I don't want to sit through a 40 point upwards spike beforehand.
