Craig,

Certainly "food for thought'. IMO, your last paragraph is what Ancor's probably banking on as well!<g>

Craig,

Don't you think ar/wilhu/etc. would have posted technical deficits in the MKII if they existed? Don't you think he would have made some up? After all, I seem to remember the post where he claimed to have designed a Cisco router. He seems to be directly connected to labs at Ancor's competitors. I am sure they could just dust off the reports, next to the coffee mug sitting on that old Ancor switch and fax it to him. If we are going to give him this much credibility, let's have the benchmarks.

If not, Steve's old boys' theory has much more merit than a technical deficiency in the MKII.

Craig,

As long as we are considering anonymous posters, here is food for thought:

Craig,

Even if AR's list is true, doesn't it really depend on the scope (size and specific application) of the OEM. An OEM with each doesn't mean that those companies will go with Brocade in all applications. It would help to know if ANCOR is competing head-to-head in each situation... and if they lose, why? But until I hear specifics, watching and speculating on each rumor is difficult.

My analogy/metaphor for ANCOR's current situation is like OPERATION DESERT SHIELD. A lot of preparation, planning, and talent synchronized for the right moment will maximize success. Even the US soldiers in the Operation had NO idea that DESERT STORM would only last 100 hours. And it wouldn't have had the plan or specific details leaked out (or if GEN(R) Schwartzkopf would have answered every press question). I don't think ANCOR's Management Team would broadcast their plan anymore than I expected GEN(R) Schwartzkopf to brief the plan prior to execution. Patience truly is a virtue. Soldiers in the Desert had to dig deep to find it... and so must we.

The discussion, pro and con here has been very helpful. Cheerleading on the way up and gloom on the way down is too predictable. Again, we must wait. We can also ask tough questions at the next Conference Call--and I hope you do.

Respectfully,
Wayne
