Want to know the weather conditions?
Mobile computer users can now get the latest local forecast from Impromptu's Weather24 Channel loaded onto their handhelds every time they HotSync via AvantGo.
AvantGo Inc., the authority in managing mobile information, has teamed up with Impromptu, a leading developer of personalized information solutions, to deliver the latest, local weather conditions and five-day forecast to users of handheld devices, such as those based on the Palm family of connected organizers.
Most people check the weather forecast every day on TV or the radio, but now for the first time, handheld users can have it delivered, like the newspaper -- only free -- to their handheld device. Additionally, users can choose the location of their weather information.
For professionals on the go, AvantGo and Weather24 make it easy to be prepared for both local and out of town weather conditions.
"We believe in providing users with customized solutions, which is why AvantGo's content program is ideal for Weather24," said Tom Karlo, president of Impromptu Inc. "With Weather24, handheld users can have fast and easy online weather information -- without a permanent network connection."
With Weather24 To Go, handheld users gain a visual and written description of their local five-day forecast. Then, even off-line, users can switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius to view the current conditions and forecasts. Soon, the Channel will also include moon phases, as well as sunrise and sunset information.
"We are delighted to be working with Impromptu to deliver Weather24 To Go," said Felix Lin, CEO of AvantGo Inc. "We expect this Channel to be very popular with handheld users because it is the first to provide weather conditions in a format that is easy to read and easy to carry."
AvantGo sells software that takes advantage of Web technology to build, deploy and manage mobile applications on Palm Computing and soon WindowsCE platform devices.
