Dale,

Also some interesting comments on Cable vs DSL. Most analysts seem to favor Cable. THey were commenting that the Cable companies know how to sell entertainment to consumers while the phone cos. are just trying to sell access. They also said the cable cos. are responding quicker to change.

Go read the main COMS thread. you will see that this view is echoed by myself and several others who actually study the 2 markets. (I think we had this going on the INTC thread too actually and I was saying cable was right and rudedog was arguing for DSL ;-) )

I agree. I was reading an article in USA TOday where Gates was saying the TCI AT & T merger was a good thing for MSFT. He said it will speed up the convergence of TV and the PC. As to changes in the PC market he said the evolution is happening quicker than ever before and in a few years the PC may look quite different than today (he didn't elaborate).

Well that could be a good or a bad thing. It all depends on what the OS will be. If it's NT or CE the whole x86 market is in jeopardy. Both will run on almost any processor with very little work. MS has already said that this is the last version of Windows (windows 98) with will _NOT_ be based on the NT kernel and therefore the NT portability.
