As we all know, Brinker recommended Utek as a long term story - a stock that may not do much for a while but then more than make up for it in the long term. I wish I knew how to get into such a stock at the last instant but haven't figured out how.

This situation reminds me of another stock I bought for its long term story - rambus. It too was languishing with a huge amount short interest and market makers pushing it down. The stock was held by people who had confidence in its potential and weren't about to sell for a few points. With only a small amount of good news a few days ago, some shorts started covering. And in two days it was up 40% and I am sure many shorts wished they never heard of the stock.

It is hard to say when Utek will get similar "good news." (It certainly looks like the semi equipment recovery may still be a ways away.) But with it being held a strong hands and large short interest, I would not be surprised to see a dramatic change when that "news" comes.
