Doug - I hope there is an easy, quick answer to this -- isn't a huge percentage of the U.S. going to be 1900 MHz PCS wireless relatively soon? Therefore, although I too am thrilled that QCOM will soon have this "killer" handset out soon, I wish it were dual band, instead of just dual mode. (Making it a "tri-mode" handset, I guess). (Or, I guess, I wish the PCS Q-phone would soon be up-graded to a dual band model).

Jon.

<<the flag ship's gonna be the dual mode Q phone. That baby is kinda a make or break prestige item in my mind. It's also the only Qcom phone I would really really want. If they blow that one, kiss the stock goodbye for at least another six months, in my view. Rave reviews combined with a real good ramp on that one (margins should be hard to blow for a while>>

Doug: Wired had a short but very sweet review on the dual Q in last issue. Basically, said it's the phone you hafta' have if you are serious about what you've got hanging on your hip. They can't do anything about the margins, however; that's up to the boys and girls in SD! All eyes will be focused on the results. ...Tim

doug, caxton, tim a., jon--thanks for the (qualified)vote of confidence in the dual mode Q phone. it's a bummer that our boys obviously still have manufacturing problems but maybe that's why so many people say : if I still had MSFT I'd be a gazillionaire by now. tons of folks sold when MSFT went through its growing pains--and there were beaucoup growing pains.
I am less excited frankly if Q management was trying to finesse one here: that kind of stuff freaks me out. The manufacturing snafus I figure can be handled: tai chi was right on the integrity thing though, no way to soft soap that one.
okay, so one final request. if I zip over to the mighty Q's web page and click on 'model phones' or whatever you do, which model # is it that is the holy grail? I mean I got dual band/tri mode in all kinds of megahertz and with my luck I'll wind up with a G* phone and the only bud I'll be able to call is E.T. This is a fate I would like to avoid. Surfer Mike
