James ..

And in 1959 .. finally .. after decades of work, the Federal Reserve paper lost all relationship to real money, with the deletion of the redemption promise and the addition of the phrase "in God we trust."

At that time all US currency became only worth what the confidence of the holder would allow.

Confidence .. in paper.

One of the most interesting changes in our day and time is that there are central banks, in this world now, that think that paper is worth more than gold.

Bottom (simple) line ..

In 1964 you could buy a nice quality new car for $5,000. You still can today .. if you use the same silver dollars.

BTW Have you caught the movie Conspiracy Theory?
