If we are going to have a global recession, deflation I think I would rather be in stocks that have already discounted the worst like TLK rather than U.S. stocks which would have a long way to go on the downside. However, I remain optimistic that a global economic melt-down will not happen. Governments now coordinate policies and take corrective actions unlike in the 1930s. In addition IMF, Fed Reserve etc did not then exist. The world is dramatically different than the 30s - no comparisons can be made. Further irrational economic scares based on 1930 scenarios will present buying opportunities.
