think the mistake many of you are making is that you are comparing Amzn to
traditional brick and mortar sellers of merchandise, i.e. Bks, who have stuck a shingle up
on the web. This doesn't make them a web based internet co. More like a hybrid type of
internet seller.

Talk about hype and garbage. Huh????

Amzn is in a category with Onsl, E*trade, Ptvl,Yhoo, etc. who are selling merchandise
and services strictly through the web.

Yahoos a content provider, etrade is a service provider and Amazon.con is a plain old retailer losing money in a hurry.

mark, you can't be serious, can you? if amzn opens up a store then that, in and of itself, should take them out of the internet classification? hello?

amzn is i mail order book company with a web site and GREAT name recognition. if i sell vitamins on the net i am not an internet company.

geez...

I agreed with you partially; AMZN is exactly in a category with E*trade. Look at Etrade, what has the stock done lately. See, big brokerage such as DLJ, Discover MSDW and others got in easily. The same hold true that BKS & BPG and others would compete with AMZN on line. The different is Etrade has made money but I doubt AMZN would in two year. I guess I would not exactly categorize AMZN like Etrade after all.
