Broker Y2K awareness:

Recently received a newsletter from one of my brokers (specializes in foreign stuff mainly). It's entitled 'James Cook Market Update'. It devotes 2 1/2 out of 4 pages to Y2K.
This particular publication takes Y2K quite seriously, especially as it applies to computer 'connectiveness' & the overseas factor.
For those who think all is over after 2000, Cook quotes Rep. Stephen Horn (R-Calif.) as stating that the Department of Education would finish all its mission critical systems in 2002, Transportation in 2003, Labor in 2007, Defense in 2009 and State in 2014.
Seems to me one of TAVA's most compelling future problems will be getting BACK to its core business.
Don't know whether this newsletter is particularly respected or not, but it does show this topic is starting to cross some broker desks in a meaningful way.
John M...let me join my colleagues in appreciation of your tireless efforts. Having monitored your posts...when do you sleep???

Agree completely. I also expect CNBC reporters to "inquire" about last quarters earnings only being a .01/share.

Of course, they will ignore the increase that figure represents over previous losses as well as how it reflects a redirection of the business plan to higher end customers.

Call me cynical, but I don't expect a fair shake tomorrow. However, as has been said in the past, any coverage is better than none at all.

Regards,

Ron
