Re: Amazon & Software.

As internet speed increases with cable modems, there will be no need for intermediaries in order to buy software. Why should I buy Office99 through Amzon.com when I can buy direct (and d/l) from Micro$oft?

Obviously, asking 200 high street shoppers if they know Barnes & Nobel will produce
the results you mentioned. First, you need to ask if people have/use internet access
otherwise you are comparing apples and oranges.

Jerk at work daily,

High street shopper? What is that? Do I have them? The point is Amazon.con spent their entire IPO advertising before the internet was main stream USA. The other, more prudent retailers, did not enter the internet market until it was approaching main stream. I realize this concept is an enigma to you.
