Joe, I'm not so sure the big boys can even short this anymore, given the short interest is apparently far in excess of "float" (although I have seen some confusing info that float is currently 9MM shares rather than the commonly bandied 6MM). The MM's can of course go short without any shares to borrow against and I am advised they will sometimes do favors for big boys to let them short without borrowing, also. But this is getting out of hand and the SEC will likely be snooping around the situation.

That leaves puts for us small fry, and they are so loony tune priced, its tough to make much money even if you bet correctly.

Regards, DWW

I was reading that there is no institutional money
going into this stock, mostly individual investor
who use the internet (hype), sooo..... it looks like when
the big boys come in here and start shorting, it is
doom for AMZN.

What do you think ?

Joe,

I am short 5K shares so that should speak for itself regarding my opinion. That excludes puts I own.

Glenn

Out of many computer books I looked up at AMZN, only
1 was discounted

I ordered a bunch of books last Friday. Amazon.com being synonymous to
books on the internet, I naturally went to amazon.com first.
But in the end I ordered from www.shopping.com, and saved
myself $29. Here is the price comparison.

Title shopping.com Amazon
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Angela's Ashes : A Memoir $ 10.00 $ 17.75
The Mismeasure of Man $ 6.47 $ 11.96
The Norton Introduction to Literature $ 47.02 $ 52.25
The Soccer War, Vintage I $ 8.45 $ 10.40
The Quiet American; Text and Criticism $ 9.72 $ 12.76
The Accidental Asian; Note of A Native Speaker $ 14.95 $ 16.10
The Electronic Day Trader $ 22.72 $ 24.47
The Living Tree; The Changing Meaning of Being... $ 9.72 $ 11.96
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Subtotal: $129.05 $157.40
Shipping: $ 9.80 $ 10.60
-----------------------------
Total: $138.85 $168.00

1. shopping.com beats amazon on every book.

2. both amazon and shopping.com discount popular books, BUT
amazon is usually at 30%, but shopping.com at %60.

For example, the best seller "Angela's Ashes" is $17.75 at
Amazon for a discount of 30%, but $10 at shopping.com for
a discount of 60%. You get a $25 best seller for $10!

3. It seems shopping.com discounts every single book, even
pretty obscure ones.

Well, looks like there are better places to buy books. Spread
the word. Feel free to repost this message to anywhere you want.

Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with shopping.com. Actually I
only became aware of the site recently from a post on this
message board.
