"For the new switch, called the ED-5000 Director, McData has reduced the Brocade intellectual property to a single ASIC, and plans to move to its own chip and subsystem designs in subsequent generations." Craig, I couldn't find this at eetimes.com - does anybody have a link? My read on this is that they still need the switching ASIC, but they are counting n ASICs as a single intellectual property. From a competitive standpoint, they seem to be interested in a pure McData switch. George
