U.S. Stocks Rally as Cash Flow Into Funds Overcomes Asia Funk
Just when it looked as if U.S. stocks would be in the doldrums all summer, the prognosis changed. The Nasdaq Composite Index, filled with fast-growing companies such as Microsoft Corp. and Intel Corp., gained 9 percent since June 15. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is once again trading around 9000, and the Standard & Poor's 500 Index, a benchmark of the U.S. stock market, rose to records this week for the first time in more than two months.

U.S. Bonds May Rise as Investors Retreat From Asian Markets
Treasury bonds were the best performers in the U.S. bond market in the first half of the year, and some investors expect that will continue as the economy weakens and interest rates fall. Thirty-year Treasury bond yields fell to as low as 5.57 percent June 15 -- the lowest in more than 20 years -- as a strong dollar combined with tumbling financial markets and economic recessions in Japan and other Asian countries sent investors flocking to the safety of Treasuries.
