Excuse me, but his opinion has changed 3 times since the last conference call....I disregard everything he says now. It is almost as if it depends on which side of the bed he woke up on!!!!!

There is nothing wrong with the captains opinion. Frankly, I very much welcome it.
No thread without honesty and bullish and bearish arguments is worth their salt. The
captain has every right to change his mind after the last qtr and conf. call.

I agree with you, but I think that the Captain is suffering from a bit of hysteria and should probably lighten his CS load a bit, until he calms down.

I welcome calm rational reasoned analysis, but not emotional outbursts. Right now, it is very difficult to see the bright side of a CS investment and we have to gut it out on faith. But we have to continue to look at things from a long-term perspective (as difficult as that can somethings be) and not fall into the trap of a short-term outlook.

Remember though, that we are already seeing rapid consolidation between the voice and data network vendors. The AT&T/TCI merger (I believe is of historic proportions) will further increase the rate of consolidation and cause dramatic changes in the way that business is conducted in the networking marketplace. Today's short-term viewpoint can quickly be rendered irrelevant by these changes, so don't get overly attached to any short-term outlook.

Cabletron is relatively cash-rich, profitable and is holding onto a significant customer base. They are a player in this market and aren't going away. So at some point in time, I see no reason to believe that they will not become acquired in a consolidation. Further, I believe that Benson is following the same scenerio and is attempting to make this happen as quickly as possible.

As painful as it might be, I am prepared to hold onto Cabletron, until this happens. This is my gameplan and I will follow it, until it is conclusively decided one way or the other, and will not allow any short-term hysteria to derail it prematurely.
