Steve,

<<and proceeded to get drunk >>

I think you found the answer. Let's get rid of all the alcohol....nope darn that was tried already and it only ended up in bringing the Kennedy's to power.

Seriously though. A couple that I used to go out with was in a similar situation. He did use a knife though. Very stable and caring person on the outside. Who'd of thunk?

When I was growing up kids would hear something like "yeah if you try that you are liable to get your butt shot". Now they hear "Your under 18 or it's your first time, nothing will happen to you". Which do you believe was a stronger deterent toward being led astray. I think it goes back to society. People just can't handle responsibility. I see it in the work force, I see it driving down the road and I see it in some posts. My son is 6 yo and has never dreamed of going any where near my guns. Why? because he knows he is not permitted ever since he was 3 and he knows that when I feel he is responsible enough that I will teach him how to use them properly. Yes I take safety precautions but he doesn't know that.

I guess what it boils down to for me is that I am tired of people trying to make everyone live in a plastic bubble and me always having to pay the price for other's stupidity. Einstein is haled as one of the most brilliant men that ever lived and that moron helped create the worst weapon of all without weighing the ramifications of what he was doing. What does that say for the rest of us?

Steven,

I've bookmarked you and we can talk about this again later. As far as the economic crash - Very good chance for it.

People on cell phones in cars are killing more people than drunk driving right now and no outrage. Think about it. In total - guns don't kill very many people in situation like you mentioned and I could list many incidents where they have saved lives and property. Only problem is that guns are such an emotional issue and the media plays the down side of them.
