Jock, you know of course that Friday Adaptec (ADPT) scuttled its
$775 million purchase of a chip-making business owned by South
Korea's Hyundai in the face of antitrust objections. So it would
seem that LSI is the beneficiary.

Jock,

My take on the acquisition. Extremely positive for LSI. Given a cash deal and accretive in 99 this will be looked at as favorable. LSI gets a writeoff on profits for this undervalued deal also.

Finally this is a much better deal than VLSI which was a larger deal and probably required a partial purchase with stock diluting shareholder value...and this dilutive effect on LSI is already built in which now has to be removed. I expect a pop at the open for LSI.
