Interesting article. "Wallstreeter", who's spent the morning posting his message all over SI, might be especially interested in this:

-- Spam. If you bombard a lot of bulletin boards with a lot of messages saying essentially the same thing about a stock, you could be accused of illegal market manipulation.

Chip: Thanks for posting the San Francisco Chronicle article. They point out some illegal activities. The last part of the article is most interesting and possibly most relevant to DGIV. I thought I would post it again. The authors review some of the things that are illegal. These apply to those investing and posting on message boards on the internet.

Investors cannot:

-- Disseminate information about a company that
you know to be fraudulent. Doing so could result in
a fine or even imprisonment.

-- Claim to be someone they aren't. Internet
chatters sometimes pretend they are company
officers or others with inside knowledge. That too
is a crime.

-- Spam. If you bombard a lot of bulletin boards
with a lot of messages saying essentially the same
thing about a stock, you could be accused of illegal
market manipulation.
