Greetings Bob, In my response to Gregory this morning I quickly scanned the preface of the New American Standard Bible and paraphrased what I read. The preface of the NAS reads " the Lockman Foundation felt an urgency to update the ASV by incorporating recent discoveries of Hebrew and Greek textual sources and by rendering it in to more current English. Therefore, in 1959 a new translation project was launched, based on the ASV. the result is the New American Standard Bible ". I should have said based on, not translated. Please forgive my carelessness. I very much enjoy the NAS Bible. Grace and peace be unto you Bob and your family. Robert
