MICAP,
Interesting point. But, Bre-x said they had a gazillion samples, not to mention tons of press. Now, the Jan 97 report from GE mentioned the 100+ millions of ounces, but did not say extensive sampling had been done. keep in mind the time frame here. In Jan of 97, Bre-x was sizzling hot, yet we all know what was coming just around the corner for them (hind-site is a beautiful thing). Now, with the lack of definitive sampling and zero press, and the focus on bre-x, it is quite possible the majors just didn't know (or didn't care yet) about GE. Did you know about GE in Jan 97? If you did, did you think to yourself, "boy, this GE sounds great."?
Now, with all this said, check out who is on GE's advisory board. Ex Newmont and Barrick personnel? Interesting.
Regards
Brian
