Taxing Income, or productive capacity, is clearly stupid. Seriously stupid. Taxing consumption is stupid, but less so. Taxing assets (land, stock) is stupid, too, but less so.

Based on the above, I would guess that you would prefer replacing the current tax system with a national sales tax rather than a flat income tax. Either would be preferable to the mess we have now, but I doubt we'll see any such sensible alternative implemented. Politicians from both major parties have a huge vested interest in the status quo. The ability to use the tax code to reward and punish, drives campaign contributions (extortions) and feeds power lust. They won't give that up unless and until the public demands it.

Regards, JB

No doubt the income tax is the worst. There should be no taxes on income or assets.
Sales tax? Maybe. With a very low limit.
The problem is spending That has what has driven us to this point where we work "for the government" for 7 or more months a year.

Except the sloths on welfare who pay no income tax.
