Thanks for the article but I have a few comments. Last year about this time, before anyone had any Asian concerns, MMM warned because of the strong dollar. I remember because I thought it odd that a company of that size didn't know how to hedge currency risks. Also, I believe MOT and TXN have given perennial warnings although I admit, I haven't followed stocks that long.

So, I guess, although, they are painting a really bad picture in the article, they're using the same paints that have painted the bad picture before. Can somebody verify this? IBM also complained about currency translations last year as well and the affects of the Asian crisis didn't really become apparent until Sept '97. I guess the main point of this is, aren't some of the companies they are talking about the same ones that have trouble anyway? Except for MSFT of course.
