I remember the Tompkins Square Park problems very well. I was no longer taking classes at the New School, I'm older than that. I was living on Second between 17th & 18th. The NYPD Swat team had a unit on 20th (I believe) between Second and Third, right across from the Academy. They use to come roaring pass by window every time they headed to Tompkins Square. I use to get recruited to join their "protests" as well. Great way to meet women who are liberal about lot's of things ;)
