Admittedly, the Win95 backward compatibility effort was especially impressive, in my opinion. MSFT should be given credit for dealing with a myriad of hardware configurations... it's not like they were really writing for a "Standard" box. Win98 may take computing that much closer to a real plug and play PC environment, but it appears bloated to me.

In my opinion if you don't need any of the new features, save yourself some money. On the other hand, the one compelling feature for many will be multi-mon...

I'm still running OSR2, OSR2 and 2.1 are my personal favorite versions of (so-called "dos-based") Windows. OSR2.5 had some hardware detection problems at setup.
