Celeron is not ready, part III
use of caching comes with the presence of any cache at all, so 128KB should make a
significant difference. And Intel should produce this next Celeron quickly, or drop the price of
the existing chip. The current incarnation is neither cheap enough, nor fast enough, to be
competitive with the AMD-K6, Cyrix's MII ... or even Intel's own MMX Pentium chip.

--Quick View--

results in mediocre application performance

Strongest Rival: Seanix Baby Grand-CS

Hewlett-Packard Co., 800-533-1333, fax 800-333-1917. Winfo #752

Systemax Mediamax 266C

Bottom Line: A well-built, well-configured system that's underpowered by its Celeron
processor

Price: $1,299

Platforms: 95

Pros: Built-in 10/100BaseT Ethernet

Cons: Anemic application performance for the price

Strongest Rival: Seanix Baby Grand-TCO

Re: "Thank you very much for pointing this out to the entire AMD thread. You have done a great service in pointing out that AMD's K6 chip, although a good chip, falls well short of Intel's comparable chips."

The gap would have been even wider had they shown WinNT scores. AMD is never willing to do that because of how bad the K6 looks.
