hi ron, i don't think that's not what i meant. what i am trying to say is this; if there's a production line involving 10 pieces of machinery with 3 controllers and the line malfunctioned 1/1/2000, what are the options?

the problem is in the controllers, correct? the first call is to the manufacturer of the controller. unless it's really old equipment they should help. if they don't option 2 would be to replace the controller(s) that are at fault. i was told this is what fanuc is recommending, of course they want to sell everyone new, updated controllers. also, not every controller is year sensitive. many work on a timed interval to pass machine code to the proper machinery without ever realising or caring what year it is. this is what i was told by a person at morie-seiki, who is one of the largest manufacturing machine builders in the world.
