James, I noticed that your new thread has a whole bunch of posts. I hope you have a lot of spare time, because it takes a lot of energy and interest to nurture a thread and keep it alive and healthy.

I would agree with you that life is about balance. One of the reasons I started a Feelings thread is to provide a little of that balance in an electronic way. However, hardly anyone really wanted to talk about their feelings!! I still haven't really figured out why, but making people feel comfortable and giving them a place to hang out is also important. It is really funny looking back at the beginning of this thread, however, where I suggested that everyone share one feeling when they posted. And the guys said they didn't want to share any feelings at all, thank you very much!

I haven't had time to read your thread yet, but I hope someone addresses the question of what the libertarians will do if and when it is proved beyond a reasonable doubt that global warming is caused by humans. I tend to operate by finding out what is true about a subject, and then responding accordingly, in a flexible manner. I think that government regulation in some areas is necessary and beneficial, for example. Once you have an ideology, and you're sticking to it regardless of what is happening (or falling apart) all around you, nothing makes much sense. Trying to change reality to make a particular argument work is a senseless waste of time, I think. I wish all people were pragmatic truth seekers.
