Forthright, I do not wish to get in the way, here. Let me say from my limited experience wth stocks that valuations are all fine and good in theory, but doesn't the market set valuations on a company, based on technical factors and the emotional "position" of the given investors(excited, unimpressed, etc.)? for example, is Yahoo a $140 stock, regardless of forward earnings, etc.? You know what I mean?
