Unity Motion Readies HDTV Offerings - -June 29, 1998

Start-up direct-to-home HDTV satellite provider Unity Motion said it plans to offer multi-scan HD-ready monitors, set-top satellite receivers, and HDTV and SDTV programming to consumers this year.

The St. Louis-based company an-nounced plans to be on air with four to six high-definition channels by year end. It demonstrated one of the first national satellite broadcasts of HDTV on June 23 at specialty audio retail store Definitive Audio in Seattle.

The broadcast is part of the company's adjustment and calibration of its broadcast system that began in the spring, according to Sean Henry, Unity Motion's sales and marketing VP.

Warner to Release New European DVD Titles; 25 Films to Hit Store Shelves on Sept. 25

BURBANK, Calif.--(ENTERAINMENT WIRE)--June 29, 1998--Warner Home Video (WHV), a division of Warner Bros., a Time Warner Entertainment Company, announced the expansion of its DVD release schedule with the availability of 25 new DVD titles across Europe on Sept. 25, 1998.

This roll-out will be followed with an additional eight to 10 DVD releases each month.

Exciting titles slated for release in September (see list below) include recent hits such as "Conspiracy Theory," "Contact" and "Michael Collins," plus timeless favorites such as "Unforgiven," "The Fugitive" and "Batman." Other major titles available by year's end include "L.A. Confidential," "The Devil's Advocate" and "Space Jam."

The new releases follow the popularity of the first DVDs released in European markets by WHV earlier this year. These titles, introduced in April, included "Batman and Robin," "A Time To Kill," "Dangerous Liaisons" and other exciting films.
