Do you believe this ?jpa.com A somewhat random exerpt: <<<We gave you stories of the HUGE influx of Intel boards in Taiwan - 100 models by nearly 75 companies - mostly non-branded AIB suppliers with little demand and volume. What about the US branded companies? Since our return from Computex, we learned of at least two US branded companies that have sold no more than 10,000 Intel740-based boards since their introduction. We were all amazed months ago when we heard about these boards going for $99 in the retail channel for 8 Mbyte of SDRAM. But now, we won't be surprised to see these same boards hitting $69 to $79 this Summer. Sure, there was an initial shortage of Voodoo2-based products. But since our return from Computex, we learned a bit more about Voodoo2 - they are out there. In fact, there are more than just a few out there sitting in more than a few US warehouses waiting for customers. Word on the street is that one major Voodoo2 AIB supplier has actually delayed a scheduled production run. Is the game enthusiast market saturated, too? Both chip and AIB suppliers are in dire need of a kick-start of some kind - and many are banking on the next round of design wins. Simply put, there a lot of hungry AIB suppliers lying in wait to catch a Banshee, enter into a Savage fray, or blast them all to hell with a little TNT. And of course, we'll be at our usual ringside seats announcing the blow-by-blow: "Let's get ready to rumble!" >>> Just finished absorbing the latest (and last, sort of) issue of BootMag, noticed a preview page of the August edition (to be callled Maximum PC with tiny thumbnails of future pages, showed Maalox, er Matrox G-200 scored "5" on their ten scale. (p. 52) Further on they rate three Voodoo II 12MB boards, the Canopus rated a "10", Diamond and Metabyte's Wicked nailed down "9's" and ALL THREE got their coveted "boot-kick-ass-product" rating. In a timewarp, Intergraph ran a two page spread for their Intense 3D Voodoo product featuring a moto-racing nun and a Rush board. I think they're a year off !
