cornbread, that was great research. I found my Netscape worked better than MSIE to view that site. The sketch is interesting. Note there are two shafts emerging from the housing. Different than the Detroit Press sketch provided by the company.

Note that the title of Manthey's application is "Improvements in Axial Piston Rotary Engines." Does that mean he is only attempting to patent improvements to an existing design?

What search technique would I use to find the U.S. Patent 4022167 cited as prior art by Manthey. If the sketches look the same it becomes a question of how Manthey's improvements add value to the existing design.
