George,

My apologies to Steve, but anyone who is still holding ANCR at these levels needs to look at the bright side once in a while. (Or have their head examined. <g>)

I see your logic regarding Adaptec, but I would think they would want to get into hubs first, and switches later. If a suitor is really out there, I think it would be more likely to be one of the potential OEMs who actually need switches right now, or within the next 6 months. An OEM could buy Ancor, bypass the middle man entirely on their switch purchases, and ramp production themselves.

The more I think about it, it has to be one of the potential OEMs. Relatively speaking, Ancor's technology is cheap, compared to what it would cost to buy Brocade, Vixel/Arcxel, or McData. What was it AR said a long time ago? Somebody offered to buy out Brocade at $500 million, and they TURNED IT DOWN?

Craig

George,

You see where the buyout discussions got us in the past, that is why I do not enjoy talking about them. More times than not it is just another form of hype.

Fairly brilliant strategy if you ask me though. Impersonate A.R., run the stock price down as far as you can by speading rumors that Ancor will win no OEMs, then buy shares and spread a rumor that they are being bought out. Nice touch.
