Bill, I don't know why you posted the Washington Post article to my attention as I have long believed that politics tends to screw these boards up for weeks at a time. That said, the Post article seemed very well balanced and well researched. I did not get the feeling that the journalists were out for anybody's scalp but rather, god forbid, trying to report the facts as they discovered them.
The article also answered a lingering question I had during the 'dark days' of a month ago when Loral and Mr. Schwartz were twisting slowly in the wind: why isn't Hughes more prominently mentioned in all of this, I kept wondering?
It is my sincere hope that perhaps all parties can sit down and rationally approach this issue by way of setting forth procedures that permit international trade to go forward without compromising legitimate U.S. security interests. Isn't that the goal? Certainly after Mr. Clinton's visit to China this week, we should seek to insure that the Long March rockets will be available to the satellite industry as they can't help but alleviate the general shortage of launch vehicles world wide and the reliability of the Zenit vehicle is looking a little shaky just now.
In any event, I hope that Mr. Mintz's article does not precipitate a firestorm of partisan posts and, subject to the foregoing, thank you for bringing it to the thread's attention. Regards, Mike Doyle
