Nevetheless, what are you doing to right the wrongs, besides say you care. That's my point.

>"Water under the bridge" is such an abysmal way to toss aside the atrocities of our power-grabbing, ruthless species. gsm.<

Don't get me wrong. Ever since as a young boy when I found a perfectly shaped 3" spearpoint, I've been fascinated and interested in Native American culture. Not that I think that the Indian culture contained only the highest beliefs and most moral principles. But nevertheless, the world lost an entire vibrant and living culture due to the white man's belief in "Manifest Destiny".

American citizens today are, by virtue of living on United States soil, particants, enablers, and beneficiaries of Manifest Destiny. So it is, to use the words Christine used to describe some views of the founding fathers of our country, "hollow sounding" to participate, benefit, and decry as shameful and abysmal, all at the same time. A similar comparison would be if George Washington, as owner of 300 some slaves, were to decry slavery as wrong. All we have to do is give back the land we live on to an Indian tribe, if we really feel so bad about it. Yet who is going to take the first step. My guess is nobody. That's why I said it's water under the bridge, however tragic that is.

When are you going to give your home to a Native American?

I'll even let you pitch a tent in my yard so that you won't be homeless.

You are right gsm, that Davy Crockett was a no good S.O.B.

It's too bad it wasn't Geronimo that killed him at the Alamo.

If the Indians had captured Lewis and Clark and burned them to death instead of teaching them how to smoke tobacco and play the tom-tom they would be a lot better off today.
